Meet Dickens

I was going to title this post "The Newest Member of the John and Breanna Broderick Family," but John helped me to decide that it might be a little cruel to those of you anxiously waiting on the results of next Tuesday's ultrasound.

Saturday after we got back from Thanksgiving at Aunt Becky's in Chicago, we visited the local animal shelter to see if any of the dogs there might suit our collective desires and needs. We found Dickens, and after I got over my dairy poisoning (those darned mashed potatoes were delicious!), we made our way back to the shelter later in the week and filed the paperwork to adopt him. So here is the face of the newest member of our family!

For those interested, he's a Soft Coated Wheaten Terrier (mix), and was found as a stray. He's about 5 years old, and very well trained. He sits, rolls over and shakes your hand all at the asking. He's got a nice bass "woof" as opposed to a "yap" or even a "bark." He's currently weighing in at about 40 lbs, and stands 19 inches high at the shoulder. He's great with kids (thanks to the visiting teaching companion for risking hers to find out), and is a sucker for a little bit of love; pat him on the head or sides, and he'll love you forever!

He's very comfortable here with us.
(Please ignore my terribly messy hair)

So we warmly welcome Dickens into our family, and hope you can all meet and love him too!

  1. Wow. I didn't realize with all that dog talk over Thanksgiving that you were planning on getting one so soon! Congratulations. I'm happy for the addition to your family! :)
